#8 グローバル教育 SRNHS Meeting
Kogakuin Highschool students of 1st & 2nd graders in international course had a video meeting on Zoom with 40 students from SAN ROQUE NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL in the Philippines. Mrs. Kristine, an external engagement coordinator in SRNHS, moderated it with Teacher Christopher.
.
Kogakuin students enjoyed this precious opportunity and will continue to keep in touch with the partners from the Philippines for future activities. The next phase of this global exposure activity is to immense culture through food. Kogakuin Students will teach students from the Philippines to cook different Japanese delicacies and see how food is connected into one's culture. Today’s event was filled with joy and laughter as students from both countries communicated openly, asking candid questions about life in each other's countries. We will continue to make such activities from different schools across the world in order to empower and raise awareness of students.
The first was a meet and greet event. The next meeting will be held at the end of this month.
The followings are comments from students.
"During our first meeting with San Roque National High School, we introduced our school and a few students. We also did a quiz about similarities between the two countries, Philippine and Japan, which we aced. Only the Japanese part that it. We had no clue about the Philippines but they knew a lot about us! We sort of ran out of time at the end, where the students were meant to ask each other questions. Although the students and teachers were very friendly and interesting! So we look forward to our next meeting, where apparently we’re going to cook!
I thought that our cultures are pretty similar, and it was interesting to get to know about their culture! Especially, they’re a high school that majors in home economics, their school that they introduced by an amazing video, was extremely neat and fresh! They all seemed really nice!
I hope to have more similar opportunities to talk and discuss with other schools, especially from overseas, and understand the interesting things there could be. I would definitely want to have another meeting if possible! Hopefully one day, in person would be fantastic!
If we could do a similar event like this, I’d want to have a discussion with an adult this time. An adult that majors in a certain specialty, and I’m sure lots of us are interested in what the person does or how the person sees the world. Or how the person contributes to the world? There’re plenty of questions we would want to ask and loads of things we want to know about our future!"
As she mentioned, does anyone know a good chance?
